FAQs

Q?What is the best platform for SmartPhone Apps?
A.

The best platform for an app depends on what your objective is.  If you are planning to use your app to provide your clients with added benefit and don’t intend to charge users to purchase the app, you are probably best having an iPhone and an Android app created.

If you want to only have one or the other, look at your clients and see what they are using.  There are more Android users than SmartPhone users overall, but it varies by age & income on a demographic basis.

If you are planning to charge for you app and make money as a result, then you should start with an iPhone app and then move to the Android – if it makes sense.  There are 2 fundamental reasons for this: 1) Apple controls iPhone apps very tightly.  To install an app on an iPhone (that isn’t jail broken), you must go through the App Store.  The opportunity for pirated software is significantly less than that of Android.  2) Research is showing that Apple users are more willing to pay for apps than Android users.  That means your opportunity for success is higher for with an iPhone app than with an Android app.

As far as other platforms are concerned, you need to do your homework.  The market share owned by Android and iPhone is so large that as a general marketing plan it doesn’t makes sense to user other platforms.  That said, each business is unique.  If you find your users are gravitating towards Windows phones or Blackberries, then it would make sense for you to develop on those platforms.

Our general rule of thumb is to have businesses explain to us why they want an app on a different platform before we agree to do it.  Why?  Because we want our clients know why they are spending their money and make sure it supports their business plan.  And for the record, “we have a lot of money and want to be able to say we have a native app on all these platforms” is a solid business reason.

Q?What is a native app?
A.

A native app is one that is coded in the preferred language of the platform. That means a iPhone app is written in Object C and an Android app is written in Java.  By writing the apps in the preferred language, the apps are able to fully utilize the features of the platform.

Q?Why is Worker Classification such a big deal?
A.

There are 3 basic reasons why every business owner needs to care about how their employees are classified.  1) States are looking for money 2) the federal and state governments are passing laws to make misclassification more expensive and easier to report 3) Health care reform increases the incentives to find businesses that are misclassifying workers.

What it all boils down to is $$$$$ – you have it and the government wants it.

Q?How does Elucidate “back up” their Worker Classification?
A.

We backup our worker classifications by agreeing to pay any fines, penalties, or interest you are assessed if it is determined our classification is incorrect.

Yes, we hold ourselves accountable!

Q?Why should we hire someone to classify our workers?
A.

Having an objective 3rd party evaluate your worker classification provides you with peace of mind.  The added benefit is we keep a copy of everything we use in making our determination.  Should you be contacted for possible misclassification, we are able to provide you with a copy of everything to submit in your defense.  And, if we were wrong in our classification, then we pay any penalties, fines, or interest assessed!
